First Roman Catholic Mass at Wells Cathedral for many years

As part of the ecumenical vision of Wells Cathedral, Dean Toby Wright invited local Roman Catholics to the cathedral for a Roman Catholic Mass, celebrated by Father Tony Pazahayakalam, Parish Priest of St Joseph and St Teresa Catholic Parish, Wells. Over 300 people participated and the preacher was Canon Alan Finley. The special Mass took place on 8 September 2025 - the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Earlier this year, The Bishop of Clifton Diocese the Right Reverend Bosco MacDonald, was made an Ecumenical Canon of Wells Cathedral by Bishop Michael Beasley, Bishop of Bath and Wells.
