Franciscan Peace Pilgrimage September 2026

An ecumenical peace pilgrimage ‘On New Roads’ is coming through Somerset between 4 and 9 September. Organised by the Society of Saint Francis (SSF) and the Third Order (TSSF) pilgrims are walking over 70 days from Alnmouth Friary in Northumbria to Hilfield Friary in Dorset and then on to London.

2026 is the 800th anniversary of the Transitus of Saint Francis of Assisi.

On Sunday 6 September the preacher (on the theme of Peace) at the 1030 Eucharist at Wells Cathedral will be Bishop Christopher Chessun, Bishop Protector of SSF Europe Province. All are warmly invited.
